Kenneth Lam JP
Kenneth Lam JP is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SeaKapital.
◼ Prior to co-founding SeaKapital in April 2023, Kenneth Lam was the Managing Director and the Head of Shipping and Offshore in Asia at Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank (CA-CIB), and the Chairman and CEO of Crédit Agricole Asia Shipfinance Ltd. (CAASL). Between April 2023 and April 2024, Kenneth was appointed as the Honorary Chairman of CAASL owing to his 30+ years relationship with CA-CIB.
◼ Kenneth joined the merchant banking division of Banque Indosuez in 1990 and co-founded Indosuez Asia Shipfinance Services Ltd. in 1993. Indosuez was later merged into the Crédit Agricole Group and Kenneth continued to lead CA-CIB's Ship Finance Division in Asia, under the bank’s structured finance umbrella, contributing towards its development as a leading shipping bank regionally and globally.
◼ Kenneth is currently the Deputy Chairman of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, a founding board member and the Honorary Treasurer of the Hong Kong Chamber of Shipping, a board member and the Chairman of the Shipping Policy Committee of the International Chamber of Shipping, a member of the Hong Kong Maritime Port and Development Board Manpower Development Committee, and a member of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council Belt & Road and Great Bay Area Committee.
◼ Kenneth finished his six-year term as a member of the Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board (HKMPB) in 2024. Before and during this appointment, Kenneth was a member of the Maritime Leasing and Financing Working Group of the Hong Kong Financial Services Development Council which published the Maritime Leasing Paper in May 2018. He then continued his service in HKMPB’s Task Force on Ship Leasing which spearheaded the enactment of the Hong Kong Ship Leasing Bill in June 2020. He also served in HKMPB's Task Force on Commercial Principals, which led to the enactment of a new law on tax concessions for certain shipping-related activities in July 2022.
◼ Kenneth is currently a National Committee Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and formerly a Committee Member of the CPPCC of Sichuan Province.
◼ Kenneth is an Independent Non-executive Director of Singamas Container Holdings Limited (Stock Code: 0716.HK).
◼ Kenneth, as a volunteer, is very committed to the development of sports in Hong Kong. He is currently the President of the Golf Association of Hong Kong China. In 2025, he was a member of the Hong Kong Organizing Committee of the 15th National Games Coordinating Committee on Competition. In 2021, he was the Golf Team Leader and one of the 97 official Hong Kong delegates at the Tokyo Olympics. He is a Past Captain and the Championship Chair of the Hong Kong Golf Club, which hosts the internationally acclaimed Hong Kong Open and LIV Golf HK. He is the Chairman of the Chinese Recreation Club, which runs the largest annual tennis tournament in Hong Kong.
◼Kenneth’s other community work include being a member and the Vice Chairman of the External Affairs Committee of the Board of Management of the Chinese Permanent Cemeteries, a board member of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, a Council Member of St. Paul’s Co-educational College, an Independent Manager of Buddhist Lam Bing Yim Memorial School, a Governance Committee Member of the Hong Kong Bodhi Siksa Society, and a Voting Member and Racing Steward of the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
◼ Kenneth graduated from Amherst College, Massachusetts, USA in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts with honours in Philosophy and Economics.
